James M. Harrison, Jr., M.D., a board-certified ophthalmologist, received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After completing a three-year residency in Ophthalmology, Dr. Harrison established his private practice in Mobile. Since that time, he has remained a leader in his field providing the most advanced surgical techniques and procedures. Dr. Harrison was one of the first to perform intraocular lens implant surgery following cataract surgery. He also has performed hundreds of Radial Keratotomy (RK) procedures. Now, using the Excimer Laser, Dr. Harrison is performing both Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK).
Dr. Harrison is one of the first in Alabama to perform the non-laser procedure known as Conductive Keratoplasty (CK). This procedure is by far the safest available for farsightedness.
Dr. Harrison is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and the Medical Society of Mobile County.
